You've written your masterpiece, had your say, put in your two cents...now what? Ah, editing. So, why shouldn't you edit your work yourself? Some writers do. But it's also a matter of literary fact that one can be 'too close' to one’s own work to be able to edit properly, because you 'see' what should be there, not what really is there. That's why another set of eyes is crucial to putting the fine edge on your work that allows it to step out from mere writing to a fabulous piece of art.

I'm a winner!
Well, I have won the Nanowrimo (National Novel Writing Month) contest by the simple means of reaching 50K word count. I actually got there two days early. I am so pleased with myself that I am ready to do it all over again! I can't, however, get quite so carried away with writing this month. Family, and the holiday season, calls. I must return to the dry, dusty drudgery of everyday life, where no characters lift flaming hands, or dragons soar in the sky... Oh well, that's alright, because in reality, little elves build wonderful gifts and Santa visits us kids this month!
