You've written your masterpiece, had your say, put in your two cents...now what? Ah, editing. So, why shouldn't you edit your work yourself? Some writers do. But it's also a matter of literary fact that one can be 'too close' to one’s own work to be able to edit properly, because you 'see' what should be there, not what really is there. That's why another set of eyes is crucial to putting the fine edge on your work that allows it to step out from mere writing to a fabulous piece of art.

My New Year's Resolution
My New Year's resolution is to finish a story and get it off to an agent/publisher. I want to work on the story I wrote during Nano month. I'm already happily into the second draft. Wish me luck!

Happy Holidays!!!!!
To all of my dear friends and family, may you enjoy a lovely, safe, joyous season of much laughter and love. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Hanukkah, Blessed Be, Happy Yuletide, etc, you get the picture. May you all practice random acts of beauty and senseless acts of kindness. Coexist, tolerance. Let there be peace on Earth and goodwill to all. Love you!

Writing...I think?
The dreaded block has struck again! I am at an impasse and I don't like it one little bit. Where, oh where, did that exhilarating rush from writing so fiercely and swiftly go? Where is my muse, my umph, my impetus?
Probably in the same place it usually goes. The problem is, that mysterious place is somewhere off to the left of the yellow brick road, behind the emerald tree, and waaaaaaaaaay down the unbeaten path, through the woods, and behind the purple waterfall. Now, that yellow brick road is long, that emerald tree gets plucked often so it's hard to tell it from any other tree, the beaten path is so overgrown I can't see it, and that purple waterfall keeps shifting places in that magical kingdom of fancy. My directions aren't very accurate. I'll have to see if I can make something happen with this lovely little post. A shifting purple waterfall sounds fun!

Write...edit...write...interchangable
I love to write. I love to edit. I never knew how similar they were until I began to edit work other than my own. I can see how one leads to the other and back again. The thing is, I can do that easily with my own works. Not so much with someone else's! Laying down words is an author's right. My edit can only suggest, which I've found helpful in my own work. See? Vice versa!
On another note, I'm now editing the work of a friend, and I'm impressed. Nice introduction to the story, excellent wordage, great characterization...but then I always knew she had talent!

And it's done!
Well, as I've mentioned, my love is writing, and I was writing a story during Nanowrimo. Well, I won by making the fifty thousand word goal. But the story wasn't complete. Well, it is now! At 61,840 words, it is finished. A rough draft...a very rough draft, but it is done! I am so proud of myself. I actually finished something! Yeaaaaaaaa!!!!!!
Now on to the story I was working on before Nanowrimo! LOL

I'm a winner!
Well, I have won the Nanowrimo (National Novel Writing Month) contest by the simple means of reaching 50K word count. I actually got there two days early. I am so pleased with myself that I am ready to do it all over again! I can't, however, get quite so carried away with writing this month. Family, and the holiday season, calls. I must return to the dry, dusty drudgery of everyday life, where no characters lift flaming hands, or dragons soar in the sky... Oh well, that's alright, because in reality, little elves build wonderful gifts and Santa visits us kids this month!

National Novel Writing Month
Well, I'm a new Nano this year, and I have to say that this is the best thing ever! Life is a wonderful thing, but I have to admit to a certain amount of fantasy world living. But because I love my new husband and my daughter, I have to take care of them, and me so that I can take care of them, (guilty of neglecting myself when writing) I don't write as much as I would like. However, this month has been an absolute spree of writing and I'm loving every moment of it! It has led me to the determination that I am just going to have to make the time for my writing. Just like exercise...only the opposite because I'm sitting. Speaking of exercise...lol.
