You've written your masterpiece, had your say, put in your two cents...now what? Ah, editing. So, why shouldn't you edit your work yourself? Some writers do. But it's also a matter of literary fact that one can be 'too close' to one’s own work to be able to edit properly, because you 'see' what should be there, not what really is there. That's why another set of eyes is crucial to putting the fine edge on your work that allows it to step out from mere writing to a fabulous piece of art.

To be, or not to be...
I am to be faithful to my writing goal. I am not to be disturbed by anything, short of spurting blood or a bone sticking through flesh, or perhaps a bomb. I am to be honest to the story. I am not to be interrupted by sound, by cats, by anything. I am to focus. I am not to allow myself to be distracted. I am...I am not. Or...to be or not to be...same thing!
